Abstract

1502241 Substituted alkylamides STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 11 Jan 1977 00914/77 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are independently halogen or C 1 to C 4 alkyl; R<SP>3</SP> is C 1 to C 4 alkyl, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are independently hydrogen or C 1 to C 3 alkyl. The compounds of Formula I are used as herbicides and compositions of such are described. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared by reacting an acid chloride of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are as defined above with an amine of the general formula wherein R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are as defined above in the presence of an acid binding agent.
