Abstract

The influence of disturbances such as tape noise, distortions or dropouts is to be drastically suppressed. For this purpose, an information signal and a compensation signal are read out from a recording medium. The compensation signal corresponds to the unwanted signal which has entered the information signal during its recording. The information signal and the compensation signal are contained in recording channels (S1, S2). The channels S1, S2 may be contained in separate tracks or as separate frequency bands in one track. During the recording, the input signal is recorded in the first channel (S1). The recorded signal is read out and is fed with the input signal, time-delayed in the time-delay element T, to a comparator device (A). The output signal of the comparator device reproduces the error in the recorded signal; it is recorded in amplified form in the second track (S2) as a compensation signal. During reproduction, the information signal of the first track (S1) and the compensation signal of the second track (S2) are fed to an adding circuit (C). The output signal of the adding circuit (C) is free from the above-mentioned disturbances. <IMAGE>
