Abstract

1501934 Surgical drape CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 5 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 18812/75 Heading A5R [Also in Division F4] A drape 10 having an aperture 11, for providing a clean work area supplied with clean air, comprises an inflatable air duct 12 surrounding aperture 11, the inward wall of duct 12 being in the form of a diffuser 13 of air permeable material, whereby in use, air is supplied to inlets 22 by hoses (not shown) and air diffuses through the diffuser 13 to provide a flow 14 of air inwardly into aperture 11 and a flow 15 upwardly above aperture 11. Aperture 11 is preferably of elliptical shape with the major axis inclined at 22-35‹ (preferably 27‹) to the axis through inlets 22. Diffuser 13 is made of plain weave cotton weighing 5.2 oz/yd and having 50 threads per inch in the warp and 43 threads per inch in the weft. The remainder of duct 12 is of a cotton having 140-180 threads per inch.
