Abstract

1501906 N,N<SP>1</SP>-disubstituted sulphonyl hydrazines UNIROYAL Inc 23 Dec 1975 [11 April 1975] 18435/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R is a hydrocarbyl radical, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each -COOR<SP>3</SP> or -CONHR<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> is a hydrocarbyl radical, R<SP>4</SP> is H or a hydrocarbyl radical and n is 1 or 2. N,N<SP>1</SP>-Dicarboxylate sulphonyl hydrazines may be obtained by (1) reacting a sulphinic acid of the formula with an azodiester of the formula (2) reacting a sulphonyl hydrazide of the formula with a haloformate of the formula wherein X is Cl or Br, or (3) reacting a sulphonyl carbazate of the formula with a haloformate of the above formula. N - Carboxylate - N<SP>1</SP> - carbamyl sulphonyl hydrazines may be obtained by reacting a sulphonyl semicarbazide with a haloformate of the above formula. N-Carbamyl-N<SP>1</SP>-carboxylate sulphonyl hydrazines may be obtained by (1) reacting a sulphonyl carbazate of the above formula with an isocyanate of the formula wherein R<SP>4</SP> is a hydrocarbyl radical; or (2) reacting a sulphinic acid of the above formula with a 1-carboxylate-2-carbonamide-diimide of the formula which also produces isomeric N-carboxylate-N<SP>1</SP>- carbamyl sulphonyl hydrazines. N,N<SP>1</SP>-Dicarbamyl sulphonyl hydrazines may be obtained by reacting an azodicarbonamide of the formula with a sulphinic acid of the above formula. Bis-compounds of the formula may be obtained by reacting a sulphonyl hydrazide of the formula with a haloformate of the above formula. Other bis-compounds are obtained by analogous methods. The products are useful as blowing agents for gas-expandable polymers.
