Abstract

1501775 Blow moulding SHINKO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 5 Aug 1976 [27 Dec 1975] 32708/76 Heading B5A To ensure uniform stretching of unevenly heated extruded parisons, e.g. of polypropylene in the stretch blow-moulding of bottles, the extrudate 2b is twisted as well as stretched as it issues from the extruder before being gripped by the two halves 3, 4 of the blow mould. Two rollers 13, 14 grip the extrudate 2b and are driven in the directions of arrows f, g to stretch it. The rollers are also rotated together in a horizontal plane about the axis of the extrudate by a motor 7 driving the turn-table 8 on which the rollers are mounted. The shafts 9, 10 of the rollers are driven by gears 11, 12 and a bevel gear 15 engaging a fixed annular gear 16. A knife 18 severs the stretched extrudate 2c which is inflated by air introduced through passage 5 in the mould.
