Abstract

1501618 Selective signalling MARCONI CO Ltd 3 July 1975 [9 July 1974] 30340/74 Heading G4H [Also in Division H3] A position resolver comprises a 3-layer sandwich, the intermediate layer having a grid of holes through which conductors dispersed on regions of two outer conductors, one of which is flexible, may be forced into contact to give a position indicating signal; means also being provided to decode a signal carried by a sheet placed on the resolver. In the preferred embodiment the material of the laminµ is transparent and a map is placed on the flexible layer, local pressure from a finger or probe forces conductor strips through the holes to contact perpendicular strips 2, 4 and reference voltage strips 1, 3 to provide X, Y co-ordinates. These signals in 1 out of 16 form are converted into 4 bit binary. Switches 48 to 57 which are closable by contacts on a frame are selectively blanked by the map to give an identification signal. Switches SW1 to SW6 closable by an operator are also provided.
