Abstract

1501548 Stacking sheets SAINT-GOBAIN INDUSTRIES 18 Feb 1976 [20 Feb 1975] 06412/76 Heading B8R Apparatus for stacking automobile windscreens interleaved with protective paper sheets comprises gripping means 11 transferring the windscreens from a waiting position on a conveyer to a stack on a pallet 20, a clamp 22 mounted for movement with the gripping means and in operation seizing the free end of a web 23 when the gripping means deposits a windscreen on the stack and drawing out a portion of the web to overlie the stack when the gripping means is returned to the waiting position of the windscreens, and cutting means 26 severing the drawn off portion of the web. The gripping means 11 may comprise a suction gripper, and is mounted on a reciprocating framework 17. The pallet 20 is lowered periodically while the stack is being formed. Means are provided to centralize the windscreens on the conveyer and to detect the front and back edges of a windscreen at the waiting position; if both are not detected simultaneously, the windscreen is rejected.
