Abstract

1500785 Irrigation siphon D J S DAVIES 23 Feb 1976 [18 July 1975] 30314/75 Heading A1B [Also in Division El] Water for irrigating fields on both sides of a river is drawn by a twin siphon pipe arrangement supported over the river by a bridge 12, the twin siphon comprising a single up leg 1 connected through a T-junction 4 to down legs 2, 3 extending over the respective river banks. The junction 4 incorporates a closable aperture for priming the siphon. Each down leg 2, 3 has a respective U-bend trap 8, 10 and an output valve 9, 11. The up leg 1 has a grating 7 and an underwater valve 5 remotely controlled by a handle 6. For Figure see next column
