Abstract

1500127 Test composite comprising metal substrate ABBOTT LABORATORIES 10 Jan 1975 [10 Oct 1973] 47202/73 Heading G1B [Also in Division C3] A water-insoluble composition or composite body for use in testing comprises a metal substrate the surface of which is coated with an intermediate polymer comprising a condensation product on an aminobenzoic acid and an aldehyde to which is coupled an organic compound having biological or chemical activity, the composition or composite body exhibiting the biological or chemical activity of or related to that of the unbound organic compound. The substrate may be metal in the form for example of powder, rods or bars or may be used as "magnetic plastic". The polymer layer forms a continuous adherent coating on the metal substrate and may be macroporous. Organic compounds exemplified are beta-D-glucosidase, and antibody to follicle stimulating hormone. There is general reference to use in testing of composites in which the organic compound is the compound to be assayed or a labelled version of the latter, or a labelled or unlabelled specific reagent for the compound to be assayed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1403359.
