Abstract
1499948 Purifying anthracene KHARKOV POLITEKHNICHE INST IM V I LENINA and UKRAIN N I UGLEKHIMICHE INST 12 June 1976 24460/76 Heading C5E Anthracene is purified by treating crude anthracene with N,N-dimethylacetamide to produce suspension I, separating suspension I into a liquid phase containing soluble impurities and a solid phase containing anthracene, treating the solid phase with N,N-dimethylacetamide at 52-135‹ C. to obtain suspension II of insoluble impurities in a solution of anthracene in dimethylacetamide, separating the insoluble impurities from suspension II, cooling the solution to -10‹ C. to +40‹ C. to obtain suspension III containing anthracene crystals, and recovering the anthracene therefrom. The recovered anthracene crystals may be recrystallized from N,N-dimethylacetamide.
