Abstract

1499796 Survey apparatus T B SNELL 28 Feb 1975 [1 March 1974] 9434/74 Heading G1F [ Also in Division E1] A visual and/or other transmitting or receiving assembly may be mounted on survey apparatus comprising a base structure, an extendable and retractable mast adapted at one end for mounting the assembly, and carriable by said base structure, and a linkage for staying the mast from the base structure. The linkage includes two transversely oriented links adjustable in length to tilt the mast into a desired attitude. The base structure provides a platform, for receiving a vehicle wheel, that is laterally clear of the mast. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the mast 11 is pivotally mounted on a support column 5 mounted via a universal joint 4 on an arm 3 of a base structure 1. The column 5 is supported by turnbuckles 5 or hydraulic cylinders which may be used to tilt the column 5 to the desired orientation. The mast 11 may be hoisted by a hand operated or powered winch 17. The mast 11 is extended pneumatically or hydraulically. In a modification, Fig: 2 (not shown), the mast is held rigid with the support column which is pivotally mounted on the base structure, the pivoting movement being only about one axis.
