Abstract
1499663 Power supplies for TV receivers COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd 14 April 1975 [17 April 1974] 16886/74 Heading H2F In or for a TV receiver, a rectifier comprises a thyristor THY1 coupled between A.C. supply terminals LN and the D.C. side A and includes a Zener diode D4, resistor R3 and capacitor C1 for triggering the thyristor THY1 on each half cycle and a time delay including a diode D3 and capacitor C8 for inhibiting the operation of the thyristor THY1 for a period following switch-on of the receiver so as to allow degaussing to be effected. The rectifier preferably includes a diode D1. When the receiver is first switched on, capacitor C8 draws charging current and thereby by-passing the control circuit for thyristor THY1 for approximately half a second. An auxiliary circuit includes diode rectifier D2 for providing starting power for the line oscillator. This circuit is inhibited by diode BD 1 when the thyristor THY1 is operating.
