Abstract
1499522 Anode for cathodic protection SKARPENORD AS 29 April 1975 17809/75 Heading C7E A sacrificial anode comprises a body 1 of anode material cast on to a support member, which is secured to one surface of body 1, and comprises at least one supporting metal part 2 secured to a bonding member 3 which is capable of accompanying contractions of said body of anode material. As shown, a network 3 of thin metal elements is welded to body 2 so that when anode material 1 is cast and hardens with cooling, shrinkage of material 1 is taken up by network 3, thus avoiding cracking whilst retaining mechanical and electrical contact: Instead of meshwork 3, metal tabs or tongues may be used. In other embodiments, (1) metal 1 is wider than 2 and 3, (2) metal 1 is coextensive with 3, but wider than 2, which fits between 1 and 3 (3) metal 1 and mesh 3 are wider than support 2 which is in the form of end tabs only and (4) the body is as shown, but semi-cylindrical so as to fit round a pipe to be protected
