Abstract
1498635 Piezo-electric motors WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL - MARX - STADT VEB 3 Oct 1975 [4 Oct 1974] 40571/75 Heading H2A A motor comprises a plurality of electrostrictive, piezo-electric or magnetostrictive flexible elements 2 spaced apart in a row within a housing 6, the element at one end of the row being fixed in position and the others being movable relative to the housing, there being an intermediate member 5 between every pair of adjacent elements 2, each member 5 transforming the flexure of one element 2 into linear movement of the next element 2 in the row, the total movement being transmitted to an output member 4 coupled to the last element 2 in the row. The total movement is n times the flexure of each element, where n is the number of elements 2 used.
