Abstract

1498270 Manure spreading JWT AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS Ltd 27 Sept 1976 [29 Nov 1975] 49133/75 Heading AID A starter mechanism for a manure spreader (not shown), of the type in which a wheeled box body has mounted therein a rotatable shaft to which are attached flexible flails such as chains, is provided to initiate loosening of the solid manure and comprises a metal blade 1 adapted to be mounted on the shaft at 5, nearer to one end 3 than to the other end 6, and provided with a cutting edge 9 formed by an inclined surface 8 facing towards the middle of the spreader. Pivotally attached to the blade at 3 is a finger arm 2. In use, rotation of the shaft causes the part 10 of the blade to cut through solid material and the finger arm acts to throw cut material towards the middle region of the spreader body. One such starter mechanism is suitably provided at each end of the shaft.
