Abstract
1498085 Induction heating coils SIEMENS AG 16 Oct 1975 [10 Dec 1974] 42371/75 Addition to 1406080 Heading H5H A water cooled, flat, single turn, induction coil 2, with a radial slot 12 to prevent short circuiting, separable diametrically into two substantially equal halves 3, 4 held together by screws or bolts 7, 8 (as claimed in the main patent 1,406,080), has the screws or bolts 7, 8 at right angles to the plane of separation of the halves of the coil and lying within the thickness of the coil. Slot 12 is filled with a sheet of quartz glued to one of the faces 12 of the slot. Earthing lug 14 is made of copper, as is the rest of the coil. The heads 17, 18 of steel screws lie in milled recesses 15, 15 at the perimeter of coil half 4. Abutting faces 5 and 6 of the coil halves are faced with silver. O-ring 9 seals the cooling water passage at the adjoining faces.
