Abstract
1497909 Rotary brushes FMC CORP 8 May 1975 [23 July 1974] 19344/75 Heading A4K A helically wound brush strip 12 is mounted on at least one end of a cylindrical core 10 by an automatic tightening device comprising a guide 42 secured to one end of the brush strip and slidably engaging a ring releasably secured to the associated end of the core, a tang 50 on the guide engaging slots 34 in the ring such that the guide and hence the strip move along the ring in one direction of rotation of the brush to tighten the strip on the core and there is no movement between the guide and the ring in the other direction of rotation of the core. A second guide 60 diametrically opposed to the first guide 42 may be provided on the strip. Both guides may be provided with channel shaped members 46 or 64 which engage a radially extend rib 28 on the ring. The ring may be secured to the strip and the guide may be secured to the core.
