1497287 Reactors KERNFORSCHUNGSANLAGE JULICH GmbH 24 Feb 1975 [23 Feb 1974] 7605/75 Heading G6C A reactor core has rod-shaped fuel cells whose residence times in the reactor are arranged to afford a predetermined power distribution in the core, and cells having the same residence time are juxtaposed in the direction 3 of coolant flow. In the example shown N C /N SM is the ratio of mean particle density of graphite to mean particle density of breeder and fissionable material, and E is the atomic density of the fissionable material as a percentage of the atomic density of breeder and fissionable material. The fuel cells may contain combustible neutron poisoning material and absorber rods of absorption rate decreasing in the direction of coolant flow may be employed.
