Abstract

The material has low brittleness and good compatibility with mineral fibres and good water resistance. For this purpose, the material has the following composition: from 60 to 95 parts by weight of water glass, from 4 to 16 parts by weight of clay mineral substances, from 1 to 5 parts by weight of oxides or carbonates of alkaline earth metals or of zinc, oxides or hydroxides of aluminium and/or barium sulphate, from 0 to 5 parts by weight of pigments, from 0 to 5 parts by weight of phosphates or borates of monovalent, divalent or trivalent metals in dissolved or finely divided form, and if desired water.
