VERF.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.2
4. Verf volgens vorige conclusie, m e t h e t k e n m e r k dat zij ook een geringe hoeveelheid aluminiumoxyde en aluminiumsulfaat bevat'.

PAINT.
The invention relates to a paint. and its main object is to formulate a non-combustible paint which forms a protective layer for the wood and other products. After drying, the protective layer must not melt, be largely non-combustible and adhere well to the wood and other materials.
For this purpose, the paint contains, in addition to potassium silicate and / or sodium silicate, at least one product which forms an insoluble silicate with said substance.
In addition to sodium silicate and potassium silicate, the paint expediently also contains ground asbestos.
In an advantageous embodiment, the paint contains about 40 parts sodium silicate, about 25 parts potassium silicate, as well as about 15 parts ground asbestos and about 20 parts of a product which gives rise to the formation of an insoluble silicate. '
In a preferred embodiment, the product which gives rise to the formation of an insoluble silicate contains at least one of the following elements: calcium carbonate, barium carbonate, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, chroanoxide, calcium oxide, kaolin, pipe clay, lithopone and calcium fluoride.
Other advantages and features of the invention will be apparent from the description of the composition of a paint according to the invention. This description is given by way of example only and is not limiting of the invention.
The incombustible paint contains about 40 parts of sodium silicate (Na2SiO3), about 25 parts of potassium silicate (K2SiO3), about 15 parts of ground asbestos and about 20 parts of a product that forms an insoluble silicate with the SiO3 group of the sodium silicate and the potassium silicate.
These insoluble silicates form a protective layer on the wood and the other materials which does not melt, is largely incombustible and adheres well to the coated material.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In addition to the substances already mentioned, the paint also contains a small amount, for example for a relatively large amount of paint, about 50 g
EMI2.1
aluminum oxide (A.203) and about 50 grams of aluminum sulfate (A12 (SO4) 3).
As the product that gives rise to the formation of insoluble silicates, one or more of the following substances can be used
EMI2.2
calcium carbonate (CaCO3), barium carbonate (Ba00 3), magnesium earth (HgO)? zinc oxide (ZnO), chromium oxide (cr2 O3), calcium oxide (CaO), kaolin (α1 2 0 3 2Siz 2H20) = pipe clay, lithopone and calcium fluoride (CaF 2).
Each of these substances can be used individually.
These substances can also be used mixed. The form of use depends on the choice of the manufacturer and is determined by the financial @ possibilities.
The paint also contains or can at least also contain a pigment; however, this pigment must be resistant to alkali. The paint can also be thinned with water, but the amount of water should not exceed 20%.
The invention is, of course, by no means limited to the embodiment described above and within the scope of the patent application various changes can be made to this embodiment, inter alia, with respect to the ratio of the different components that occur in the composition of the paint.
