Abstract

1496744 Welding by fusion THYSSEN EDELSTAHLWERKE AG 9 July 1975 [24 July 1974] 28916/75 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A welding composition comprising a powdered alloy which consists of by weight: and a steel alloy containing: The powdered alloy may be of particle size 1-10 Á and may be compacted or extruded, vacuum dried and sintered at 1250-1450‹ C. to form an electrode. The alloy may be deposited using plasma arc spraying, oxyacetylene spraying or normal electric arc welding (e.g. argon shielded) and may be subsequently solution treated for 2 hours at 850‹ C., air cooled and temper hardened for 8 hours at 480‹ C. and may be used in hard facing applications. Workpieces of metals similar to that of an electrode of the composition of the invention, austenitic stainless steel, low carbon steel, low carbon nickel martensitic steel, 12% Cr steel are referred to.
