Abstract

1495593 Dyeing and treating textiles HOECHST AG 20 Jan 1975 [18 Jan 1974] 2361/75 Addition to 1430184 Headings D1B and D1P Flat textile materials are dyed and/or finished by applying to the material a foam containing a dyestuff and/or a finishing agent, the foamed liquor having a water content of 1-8% by weight and containing a surfactant, to form a foam layer the height of which is controlled according to the desired liquor take-up, preferably by a doctor knife or rotating roller; the applied foam is allowed to self - decompose or is destroyed and if required the dyestuff and/or finishing agent is fixed. The foam liquor may contain an organic solvent particularly as an emulsion with the water; the liquor may also contain a fixing agent for the dyestuff or finishing agent. In dyeing, foams may be applied to both sides of a flat textile structure and colour effects may be obtained by using different dyestuffs or different amounts of dyestuff.
