Abstract

1495540 Hydrostatic transmission control MELFORD ENG Ltd 9 Dec 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 44165/73 Heading F2W In a hydrostatic transmission wherein a variable displacement swash plate pump 1 is in closed circuit 10, 11 with a fixed or variable displacement motor 2, a selectively operable low pressure relief valve 8 permits flow from the line 11 to the line 10 for reducing or preventing overrun braking. The valve 8 may be mechanically or electrically operated to permit low pressure relief therethrough when the line 11 is the return line to the pump 1. The control of the valve 8 may be interconnected with the pump displacement control. The usual high pressure relief valves 6, 7 are provided and an engine driven make-up pump 3 delivers to the working circuit through one-way valves 4. A stop cock 13 may be provided in the cross line 12 additional to the relief valve 8. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a valve (20) selectively connects the line 11 either to a high pressure relief valve (16) or to a low pressure relief valve (18). The control of the valve (20) may be interconnected with the pump displacement control. In Fig. 3 (not shown) a single relief valve (26) is selectively connected through a valve (30) with a high pressure pilot relief valve (36) or a low pressure pilot relief valve (38) which relief valves condition the relief valve (26) for high and low pressure relief respectively.
