Abstract

1495340 Change-speed control SOC ANON DE VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECHANIQUES SAVIEM 15 April 1975 [25 April 1974] 15525/75 Heading F2D Gear shift mechanism 5 situated on one side of a vehicle is operated by a shift lever 3a on the other side through mechanical connections between a pair of similar supports 28, 29. The support 28 carries a journal 34 rotatable about a first axis and bored to receive a shaft 36 rotatable about a second axis transverse to the first, one end of the shaft having fixed to it the shift lever 3a and the other end an arm 42. Motion of the lever 3a about the first axis is transmitted through a ball joint 53 with cross-pin 54 in slots 50 and a shaft 52 to a similar journal in the support 29, and motion of the lever 3a about the second axis is transmitted through the arm 42 and a rod 47 with a ball-and-socket joint 54 at each end to an arm 7a mounted on a shaft corresponding to the shaft 36 and connected to the mechanism 5. The support 28, journal 34 and shaft 36 may be bored to receive a pin for locking the mechanism in the neutral position. Adaptation to left-hand drive is effected by mounting the shift lever on the support 29.
