Abstract

1494917 Hand tools; secateurs ROLCUT Ltd 1 Dec 1975 [24 Jan 1975] 3121/75 Headings B4K and B4B [Also in Division B3] A method of fixing a blade or anvil member to a handle member of secateurs or shears comprises placing a tang portion 12 of the blade or anvil between side limbs 4, 5 of a channel section handle 2, passing a connector member, e.g. a rivet, screw or bush 16 through aligned holes 6, 13 in the side limbs and tang and depressing opposed lugs 7, 9 in the side limbs into tight-fitting overlapping relationship in a recess 14 in the tang portion. The bush 16 may form a pivot for a co-operating handle and blade/ anvil. The bush 16 or rivet may be swaged flush with the outer surfaces of the limbs 4, 5 and for this purpose may have a mandrel located within it.
