Abstract
1494355 Vibrating systems ULTRAMATIC EQUIPMENT CO 28 Jan 1975 [4 April 1974] 3702/75 Heading F2X [Also in Division B3] Equipment for finishing workpieces comprises a container 12 mounted with its longitudinal axis substantially horizontal, input aperture means 29 at one end for media and workpieces in the container, discharge aperture means 62 at the other end for removal of media and workpieces, and vibration inducing means 43c mounted on the upper quadrant of the container. The container is resiliently supported on a base 16 by springs 46, the base being mounted on pairs of hydraulic cylinders 17, 18, selective actuation of which rocks the base about a pivot 26 to incline the axis of the container in one direction or the other. A motor 33 is resiliently supported on the base and is connected by a belt drive 36 to a shaft 37 of the vibration inducing means 43c. A further belt 83 connects shaft 37 to a second shaft 38 of the vibration inducing means 43c, both shafts being supported by bearings 44, 44d on the container. Each shaft has clamps 87 for a weight 91 made of lead fused directly to a holding portion 89. The shafts 38, 39 are connected by universal couplings 39 to respective shafts of further vibration inducing means 43b, 43a spaced along the upper quadrant of the container. Rotation of the shafts causes the weights to impart a vibratory motion to the container so that the workpieces and media to travel in a spiral motion along the container and are discharged through an opening 62 on to a screen 63, the workpiece 59 being directed to another conveyer or processing station, and the media dropping onto a conveyer 13 for transport to shoots 55, 56 which direct the media into the inlet of the container. The discharge opening may be in an end wall of the container and have a gate for varying its size to control the flow through the container. In another embodiment, the container can be adjustably connected by holes 119, Fig. 8, in standards 116, 117, to the springs 11, 112. Further adjustable springs 126, 126 vary the mode of vibration.
