Abstract
1494095 Spot-type disc brakes BERGISCHE ACHSENFABRIK FR KOTZ & SOHNE 22 Nov 1974 [24 Nov 1973 12 Oct 1974] 50621/74 Heading F2E A disc brake assembly intended for a motor vehicle comprises brake pads (on shoes 8, 9), Fig. 3, for mounting on either side of a brake disc 3 and movable parallel to the disc axis, a support 5, Fig. 1, for connecting the assembly to the body of an axle 1 of the vehicle and mountable in the same plane as the disc, actuating apparatus 25 to 28, Fig. 3, for mounting at one side of the disc to act directly on the brake pads, and means for guiding the pads mounted on the support and including pull-rods 23, 24, the actuating apparatus being arranged to act between the pull-rods 23, 24, and brake shoe 8. As shown, actuation is by compressed air introduced at 29 to cylinders 27, 28. In Figs. 4, 5, brake shoe 39 is mounted on pull-rods 36, 37 slidable in a support 5, while brake shoe 40 is slidable on the pull-rods. Levers 43, 44, whose threaded ends engage shoe 40 via pressure bearings 46, are forced apart by a piston-and-cylinder device 49, 50. The threaded part of each lever 43, 44 may be provided in a worm wheel in the lever end, the worm wheel being rotatable by a worm with a bolt head for manual slack-adjustment.
