Abstract

1493882 Absorbent web formers COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 29 Jan 1975 [4 Feb 1974] 3939/75 Heading D1N An apparatus for manufacturing disposable diapers comprises a movable surface upon which absorbent material is continuously deposited, the surface having spaced apart cylindrical blocking elements 38 fixed thereto which extend from the surface a distance substantially equal to the desired thickness of the bolt formed thereon. The movable surface is perforate and deposition is aided by a suction zone 20. A blowing duct 30 aids removal of the bolt from the surface. Rolls of tissue paper 28, 34 supply surface layers for the diaper material. The blocking elements 38 have a diameter of “ inch to 1 inch and are mutually spaced apart by a distance at least equal to the diameter. Alternatively to the cylindrical forming surface shown in Fig. I a flat belt surface may be employed, Fig. 2 (not shown). Specification 1483951 is referred to.
