Abstract

1493624 Sealing doors WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO Ltd 28 Feb 1975 [21 March 1974 27 Sept 1974 12 Dec 1974] 12758/74 41994/74 and 53843/74 Heading E1J A rail vehicle door comprises a lower part extendable to seal the door in an opening. In Fig. 2 bellows-shaped lower part 114 is inflatable. In Figs. 4, 5 a lower part comprises a flexible non-extendable skin (124) containing inflatable portions (125, 126) on opposite sides of fixed partitions (122, 123). Air conduits are located between the partitions. A valve assembly Fig. 6 has portions (131, 132) on the door and doorway respectively, and has valves (133, 136) controlling air flow. In Figs. 7-11, a seal (24) is moved from a retracted position within a door (18) by a linkage Fig. 13 operated by a motor. The ends of the seal may be inclined and abut seals (94) Fig. 15 in the corners of the doorway.
