Abstract

1492941 Switch cases THOMAS ASHWORTH & CO Ltd 19 Feb 1975 [20 Feb 1974] 7703/74 Heading H1N An alarm actuator comprises a sheet 11 of glass or other frangible material held in position behind a fixed lip 12 on a support 10 by a movable catch member 13. A plastics or metal support 10 includes an upstanding ring 15 of channel section defining a recess to receive the rectangular sheet 11 which is positioned in the recess under two retaining lips 12 integral with the support 10. The sheet 11 is held in position by a catch 13 tightened by a screw 22 and presses against an electric switch of a fire alarm circuit, the switch protruding through a circular hole 17 in the support 10 and being secured thereto by fixing means extending into blind holes 16a. The sheet 11 may alternatively be secured to an electrical conductor which breaks when the sheet 11 is broken. The catch 13 may be easily loosened by the screw 22 to enable the actuator to be frequently tested.
