Abstract

1492936 Mixing liquids proportionately H LINDLEY Ltd 31 Jan 1975 [7 Dec 1973] 56821/73 Heading B1C An apparatus for mixing oil and water in predetermined proportions for use in hydraulic roof supports in mines comprises tanks 10, 11 for water and oil respectively which are pumped by a metering device 18 to a mixing tube 20 and thence to a mixture tank 12; float switches 29, 30 arrest the motor 33 (which drives a metering device comprising identical adjustable positive displacement diaphragm pumps 31, 32 Fig. 2 not shown) should the oil or water fall below predetermined levels in the tanks 10, 11, and may also operate audible and visible warning devices. A switch may also stop the motor when the tank 12 is full. The mixing tube 20 (see also Fig. 4 not shown) contains elements (50) each consisting of a metal strip twisted through 180‹ and arranged end to end with adjacent edges displaced through 90‹.
