Abstract

1492763 Curing polyepoxides with polyamides VEBA-CHEMIE AG 21 Nov 1974 50524/74 Headings C3B and C3R Resins are produced by curing a compound containing more than one 1,2-epoxy group with a curing agent obtainable by contacting at 0‹ to 300‹ C. (I) a compound with (II) a diamine H 2 N-R-NH.R<SP>1</SP> where R is a bivalent branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 3 C-alkyl substituents on chain carbons not adjacent to the N atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical with at least one C-alkyl substituent, or a cycloaliphatic-aliphatic-cycloaliphatic radical, and has 4 to 38 carbon atoms; each R<SP>1</SP> is independently H, alkyl or aryl; and X is hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, alkylamino or Numerous reactants (I) and (II), epoxy resins and cure accelerators are mentioned. In specific examples the following are used: Reactants (I): ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and acrylic acid; diamines (II): 2,2,4- and 2,4,4-trimethyl hexamethylene diamine, 2,2-dimethyl pentamethylene diamine, 1,4-diamino-2-methyl cyclohexane, and isophorone diamine; epoxide: diglycidyl ether of 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propane.
