Abstract

1492703 Olefin polymer compositions CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 26 March 1975 [27 March 1974] 12602/75 Heading C3P Plastic or plastic-elastic compositions comprise (1) 5 to 94À9 weight per cent of a largely amorphous α-olefin polymer having a reduced specific viscosity of 0À05 to 5À0 dl/g or a mixture of 1 part by weight thereof with up to 2 parts of an elastomer; (2) 94À9 to 5 weight per cent of a polybutene oil having a viscosity of 150 to 1,000,000 cp at 20‹ C. or mixture thereof with up to 30 weight per cent of a drying oil and/or up to 50 weight per cent of a chloroparaffin; (3) 0À1 to 5 weight per cent of a surface active material and optionally (4) up to 10 weight per cent of one or more additives. The compositions may be used for sealing, casting and coating, and have good adhesion to dry and moist substrates. Many examples are given describing compositions comprising (1) amorphous butene/propene, propene/butene/ethene, propene/ethene and propene/hexene copolymers and polyhexenes and polybutenes from C 4 cuts, optionally with ethylene/propylene and butyl rubbers; (2) polybutene oils optionally with chloroparaffins; (3) ethoxylated nonyl phenol, castor oil, glyceryl oleate, stearic acid and C 18 fatty alcohol, and sodium tetrapropylenebenzenesulphonate, sodium n-dodecylbenzene sulphonate and disodium lauryl phosphate, and optionally (4) carbon black, Fe 2 O 3 and antimony trioxide.
