Abstract

1492515 Delivery of samples for spectroscopy BODENSEEWERK PERKIN-ELMER & CO GmbH 5 Feb 1976 [20 Feb 1975] 04592/76 Heading G1B [Also in Division G2 ] Samples to be atomized for atomic absorption spectroscopy are drawn sequentially from one of a series of sample containers 16 by a sample pump 38 extracting flushing fluid from the pipe system 10 and thus drawing the sample into movable pipe 12. An air pump 36 first draws an air bubble into the system to isolate the sample. The pipe 12 is moved to the delivery position 18 at which the sample is deposited in the spectroscope. A flushing pump 24 pumps flushing liquid from the container 22 through the apparatus between samples, discharging into 14. Thus cross-contamination of the samples is avoided. The sample containers are carried on a turntable and successively presented to the sampling station.
