Abstract

1491916 Envelope assemblies UARCO Inc 10 March 1975 [11 March 1974] 9946/75 Heading B6A An envelope assembly comprises an outer envelope and an inner, reply envelope having an adhesive flap along the edge of one panel and a removable, protective portion, overlying the flap, attached to the other panel, the removable portion also being attached to a panel of the outer envelope so that it is removed from the reply envelope as the reply envelope is drawn from the outer envelope. The outer envelope is formed from panels 22, 83 which are glued together along three edges at 88 and 90, the other edges bearing removable stubs 24, 84. The reply envelope is formed from panels 38, 58, glued together at or adjacent three edges at 100, the other edges forming the glued flap 52 and removable protective portion 76. The latter is defined in panel 58 by a continuous slit 62 and a discontinuous slit 64, the edge portion of panel 58 adjacent slit 64 extending beyond the glue line 100 and being glued to the outer envelope panel 83 at 98. The reply envelope panels each have removable stubs 46, 78. An insert sheet 26 is loose in the outer envelope save for attachment to a stub 34. All the stubs are glued together. When the stubs are pulled, the outer envelope is opened, the insert sheet and reply envelope are removed, and the protective portion is left in the outer envelope. Spot carbon is applied to the backs of panel 22 and sheet 26. An overlying record sheet 18 may also be provided. A continuous web of such envelope assemblies may be produced.
