1491886 Putting game apparatus PLAYCO Ltd 29 Oct 1974 [30 Oct 1973] 46714/74 Heading A6D An apparatus suitable for a game involving putting consists of a strip having an inclined surface 101 sloping upwards from a front long edge 104 and at least two series of scoring holes 102, 103 in the surface, each series extending along the strip, one nearer the front edge 104. The holes 102, 103 are staggered and preferably arranged so that one of each series lies in each of ten numbered sectors, the rear-most holes having a diameter at least equal to that of a standard golf ball and counting double score, and the fore-most holes having much larger diameter, e.g. comparable With the hole diameter on a green space between the front holes being e.g. substantially less than the diameter of the rear holes. A further narrow high-score sector 109, having a single hole 110 slightly smaller than the holes 103 is provided at the centre. The embodiment shown, is preferably moulded from plastics such as PVC but may be of wood or metal and has the holes formed as cups; these and/or end walls 108 support the rear edge. An alternative and preferred embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) is formed from a sheet of metal such as aluminium or steel, a flange (105) folded down at the rear providing support, and the holes being cut from the sheet. In this case the surface (101), numerals and lines (107) are coloured by silkscreen printing to avoid raised surfaces. The apparatus may be part-circular or it may have a flat approachsurface simulating a green. The apparatus may consist of two or more parts that fit together in use. Suction pads or pins may be provided to anchor the apparatus.
