1491877 Bicycles C E BRADSHAW 15 Jan 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 06424/74 Heading B7E A pedal bicycle is provided with electrical means for producing a noise similar to that emanating from the internal combustion engine of a motorcycle in operation, and with elements visually suggestive of parts of a motorcycle including movable elements which simulate moving parts of a motorcycle engine and are drivingly connected by a transmission to a part of the bicycle driven by the pedals. In the illustrated embodiment elements 60 simulating valve tappets are connected to a pulley 62 on the rear wheel 16 of the bicycle by a gear 70, 71, pulley 63, 66, 69, and belt 61, 65, 68 system as shown in Fig. 5 so as to be moved up and down as the rear wheel rotates, the rear wheel being driven from the pedals 18 through a chain 20. The noise producing means (not illustrated) may be housed in a simulation fuel tank 45 and may comprise a transistorized electrical circuit and loudspeaker or an electric motor having a toothed or lobed rotor striking one or more steel vibrator strips. The intensity of the noise may be varied through a twist grip 53 on the handlebars connected to a resistor in the electrical circuit through a Bowden cable 52. The bicycle may also have a simulation engine 35, induction pipe 36, carburettor 37, exhaust pipe 38 and oil tank 46, the latter housing a battery for the noise producing means. The simulated exhaust pipe 38 may be fitted with a flashing lamp 56 intended to be suggestive of flames from the exhaust.
