Abstract
1491744 Road vehicle bodies DAIMLERBENZ AG 4 Feb 1975 [6 Feb 1974] 4753/75 Heading B7B A gap between a bumper and the vehicle bodywork is partially filled by a cover which bridges the gap at the level of the top of the bumper and has pockets at the side of the vehicle which surround the ends of the bumper. The cover is attached to the bodywork. As illustrated, the part 2 of the cover which bridges the gap engages the outside of the bumper. However, the part 2 may engage inside the bumper, Fig. 3 (not shown), or may be flush with the bumper, Fig. 4 (not shown). The cover may be of hard or soft plastics material, and in the latter case include fixing plates 12. The part 2 may be continuous or discontinuous along the length of the gap. The ends 8 of the bumper move more deeply into the pockets 9 in the event of a collision.
