Abstract

1491155 Gold alloy FULMER RESEARCH INSTITUTE Ltd 7 April 1976 [29 April 1975] 17797/75 Heading C7A A gold alloy containing Cr 0À2 - 3À6 Co 1À5 - 5 Au Balance and impurities may contain optionally either Zn 0À01 - 0À2 or Y 0À001 - 0À01 to prevent the deleterious intergranular precipitation. Alloys containing Cr 0À2-2À0 are particularly suitable for contacts in electrical apparatus, while the wider range of alloys are suitable for jewellery applications. In both cases, the alloys are solution treated in an inert atmosphere at 700-1000‹C, rapidly cooled and aged at 150-500‹C, preferably ST 850-960‹C, water quenched and aged 200-300‹C.
