Abstract
1490532 Cable manufacturing apparatus STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 9 Sept 1975 [19 Sept 1974] 40857/74 Heading H1A An apparatus for manufacturing a multiplepair telecommunications cable has a lay plate having a plurality of relatively movable pair guides, and means for moving the guides to produce alternately a two dimensional configuration in which the pairs are guided for laying up, and a linear configuration in which pairs can be exchanged between guides. This transposition of pairs in a definite pattern minimizes cross-talk. In Fig. 6 the lay plate 64 shown in the position for laying up the cable has pair guides 61 comprising two halves 61a, 61b attached to rods 62, 63 respectively connected to means for adjusting their positions vertically (not shown). In the second position Fig. 7 guides 61 are arranged in line and the halves 61a, 61b separated to allow pairs to be transposed by movable guides (83 Fig. 11, not shown) rollers (86, Figs 8 and 9, not shown) being used to bring the pairs into the plane of guides 61. A suitable mixing cycle is given (Fig. 2, not shown) for a 10 pair cable.
