1490291 Radiator grilles; wind deflectors MAGIRUS-DEUTZ AG 9 April 1975 [11 April 1974] 14550/75 Headings B7B and B7J A corrugated metal or plastics cab grille 4 is extended about the front edges of the cab to the sides thereof and is provided with, or forms with the cab wall, air ducts for directing a flow of air along the sides to prevent dirt gathering thereon. In one arrangement, Fig. 2, the corrugations extend along the whole length of the grille and the air ducts are formed at the cab corners by the corrugations and the cab body. Inlet openings 16, 16a are formed by cutting out and bending back blades 18, 19, respectively, from the crests and valleys 13, 14 of the corrugations. In other embodiments (Figs. 6-11, not shown) the ducts are formed by fixing a plain cover-plate to the crests or to the rear of the valleys at the corners thus creating ducts respectively between the plate and the valleys or between the plate and the crests; in the latter case inlet openings are provided as shown in Fig. 2. In a further embodiment, Fig. 12, the crests and valleys merge at the cab corners and the non-corrugated area 22 produced extends about the cab corners. A corrugated plate fitted to these area forms the ducts therewith. In a still further arrangement, Fig. 4, parts of the corrugation crests towards the corners are diminished in height whereas the corrugations at the corners are not, the latter forming with the vehicle body the required ducts. Portions of the crests and valleys are bent rearwardly to provide wider inlet openings 16, 16a.
