Abstract
1490217 Magnetic bubble detectors PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 Sept 1974 [22 Sept 1973] 40870/74 Heading H3B Magnetic bubbles are detected by energizing a magneto-resistive element 2 with a measuring current, modulating the bubble diameter by a magnetic field produced by an alternating current (which may be the measuring current), and detecting a component of the output of element 2 which has a frequency different from that of the measuring current. This prevents interference of the output by rotating propagating field components. The modulating current flows in a nickel alloy magneto-resistive element 2 or in a further current loop (6, Fig. 2, not shown) encircling it, in which case A.C. or D.C. flows in the element 2. The detector output is shown to have a D.C. component and harmonics of the modulating frequency, any of which may be filtered for utilization. Alternatively the sum or difference of the alternating currents in the two conductors may be selected. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,372,516.
