Abstract
1489245 Phosphonate esters and their hydrolysates DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 30 Aug 1974 [1 Sept 1973] 08888/77 Divided out of 1489241 Heading C2P The invention comprises phosphonate esters of the general formulµ CH 3 S(CH 2 ) 3 .P(O)(OR<SP>1</SP>) 2 and HS(CH 2 ) 3 P(O)(OR<SP>1</SP>) 2 wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a straight- or branched chain C 1 -C 12 alkyl group optionally interrupted by one or more hetero atoms or radicals and optionally containing one or more halogen substituents, and their partial and complete hydrolysates, such hydrolysates containing free phosphonic acid groups formed by hydrolysis. They may be obtained by appropriate methods defined in parent Specification 1,489,241. An example is given for the production of 3-methyl thiopropane phosphonic acid diethyl ester. The products are useful as anticorrosion coatings for metals or as adhesion promoters between organic materials and metals.
