1488908 Control of printers SPERRY RAND CORP 19 Nov 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 49931/74 Heading G4H A computer printer comprises means for detecting the occurrence of a LOAD FORMAT BUFFER command followed immediately by a RAISE COVER command and for thereupon giving a warning signal to the operator that he must align the forms in the printer. Command signals are decoded at 12c: the former command 12f<SP>11</SP> causes a vertical format buffer to store a signal at each memory location corresponding to a print line stopping point on a paper form being fed through the printer, while the latter 12f<SP>1</SP> activates the cover motor 69. Command 12f<SP>11</SP>, sets flip-flop 54; if command 12f<SP>1</SP> follows, gate 53 is enabled to set flip-flop 52 whose output illuminates a panel light 50 bearing a legend such as "align forms". Motor 69 may also be controlled manually 66, 67. The occurrence of any signal 12f other than 12f<SP>1</SP> after 12f<SP>11</SP> causes a gate 55 to reset flip-flop 54, which is also reset by a "stop printer" command 64 via a flip-flop 61.
