Abstract

1488259 Digitalis glycoside preparations R P SCHERER CORP 9 Dec 1974 [28 Aug 1974] 53096/74 Heading A5B A digitalis cardiac glycoside preparation is produced by (a) determining a weight of glycoside suitable for oral administration to a human patient in tablet form, (b) calculating 50 to 80% of the first amount, (e) dissolving the calculated amount of glycoside and (d) encapsulating the solution in soft elastic gelatin capsules. Glycosides specified are digoxin, digitoxin, digitalin, lanatoside C, acetyl-digoxin, acetyl-digitoxin and methyl digoxin. The solution preferably includes liquid polyethylene glycol mixed with aqueous ethanol, propylene glycol and/or glycerol.
