Abstract

1488080 Photographic development inhibitor releasing pyrazolone couplers FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 23 July 1975 [23 July 1974] 30874/75 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] A silver halide emulsion, which may be supported together with other photographic layers, or a photographic colour developer alkaline solution, comprises a development-inhibitor releasing magentaforming coupler of the formula: wherein each of R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> independently represents an optionally substituted alkyl group, R<SP>3</SP>represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group, and R<SP>4</SP> represents an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group. When employed in silver halide emulsions, the compounds advantageously contain a ballast group, i.e. a group containing a hydrophobic residue having 8-32 carbon atoms, and the emulsions may be spectrally sensitized. Further couplers may be added to the photographic compositions, as well as other conventional additives.
