Muzzle loading; firing-appliances; barrels; stocks.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a bomb-discharging apparatus shown in two parts in Fig. 2 (Cancelled) and Fig. 3 (Cancelled). This apparatus is built up of three tubes 1, 2, 3 secured together by right and left handed nuts 4, 4' and provided at one end with a socket 5 for the reception of the bomb and at the other end with a tubular cap 20, 21 slidable on the tube 2 within limits determined by a transverse pin 22 and slots 2' and cushioned by a spiral spring 23 and a rubber plug 25 to absorb the shock of discharge. The firing-pin 6' in the base of the socket 5 is adapted to be thrust forward by the head 7 of a spring striker 8 when this is cocked and released by a backward pull on a sleeve 14 slidable on the short middle tube 3 against a spring 15. The sleeve 14 cocks the spring striker by means of a tooth 13 on the sleeve in engagement with a catch 11 at the end of a flexible rod 10 attached to the spring striker. The catch 11 is at the same time wedged up by a fixed stop 12, and, when the cocking is complete, the catch 11 slips away from the tooth 13 and the striker is driven by its spring against the firing-pin 6<1>. A spring 19 brings about the re-engagement of the catch 11 with the tooth 13 when the sleeve 14 is returned to the forward position by the spring 15. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
