Abstract

1487207 Timing control systems PYE (ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS) Ltd 9 Sept 1974 39305/74 Heading H3A [Also in Division G4] A timing control system suitable for nominally setting the frequency of a locally generated signal at 36 to that of a received signal during the pilot tone period preceding the message in a DPSK paging receiver (see also Division G4) comprises an oscillator 32, a frequency divider 34, a phase comparator 27 including an in-lock detector 26 and a reset logic 31 (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) responsive to the divider output and the received signal for varying the divisor of 34 in dependence of the detected phase difference. The divider 34 may consist of a number of series connected bi-stable-stages (Fig. 7, not shown), at least some of which are set or reset by the phase comparator output to advance or retard the phase of the divider output by an integral number of the pulse period of oscillator 32. The control of the divider is inhibited when a measuring circuit 41 detects that the phase difference is within limits for a pre-set time.
