Abstract

1486246 Screw heads BULTEN-KANTHAL AB 21 Aug 1974 [21 Aug 1973] 35802/74 Heading F2H [Also in Division B3] A screw-head recess 10 comprises grooves 13 and ridges 14 alternating circumferentially around the axis of a screw. The bottoms of the grooves and the upper surfaces of the ridges are disposed on frusto-conical surfaces concentric with the screw axis; the side surfaces of each groove are planar and intersect planes perpendicular to the screw axis in lines parallel to a symmetry plane of the groove containing the screw axis. A method of manufacture consists of coldforming the screw head from a threaded blank in two steps, the first providing a thickening to form the head and the second shaping the recess and finishing the head with a tool 18 having a conical punch portion.
