Abstract

1486242 Electrostatic spray producers D LAURO 20 March 1975 [20 March 1974] 12408/74 Heading B2F An electrostatic powder spray gun comprises a barrel 10 of insulating material having a nozzle 16 at the end thereof, a charging ring 18 at the nozzle end of the barrel, a container 48 for powder removably connected to a body portion 38 of the gun, and an air inlet passage 34 in a pistol grip portion 12 of the gun, air fed under pressure through passage 34 flowing through a passage 42 to an aerator 46 extending downwardly into the container, and through a passage 44 to a tapered open pipe 56 to aspirate powder from the container through the barrel to be discharged through the nozzle after being charged by ring 18. A trigger-operated valve 40 controls the air flow through passage 34. Two needle valves 60, 62 extend into passages 42, 44 respectively so that the rate of flow of air through said passages may be independently controlled. The container may be of metal, glass or plastics and is attached by a bayonet joint. On leaving the nozzle, the powder strikes a diffuser 26. The gun may be used to spray epoxy resin powder, nylon powder, or wheat flour.
